2018: With an eye to the future SOMEC builds on its past innovations in the metal, glass and plastic containers industries by introducing new products, including a proprietary contour shaped wine can and a high end foam pump for the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries.

2012: SOMEC purchases a new 34,000 sq. ft. production facility in the growing northern suburbs of Orlando, FL to facilitate our expanding business in the solvents and lubricants used by the glass container industries.

1999: OMEC is purchased by Japan’s SNK & Daiwa Can Company, a leading Japanese manufacturing group of premier containers and precision machinery. SOMEC is created with a renewed emphasis on quality and innovation, following the strict production processes of our parent company.

1997: OMEC acquires from Alcoa Packaging the can tester product line commonly referred to as the Borden Air Pocket Tester and the end tester product line commonly referred to as the Borden End Tester line. We also acquired the plastic bottle tester line from Alcoa packaging.

1994: Purchased by U.S. Can and renamed the Orlando Machine Engineering Center, OMEC. Further capabilities are added: The bottle and can Test Equipment Division, and U.S. Can’s Proprietary Products Group, which offers products to the glass and PET container manufacturing industries, as well as to the can-making and metal-forming industries.

1984: Acquires Callahan Ams, a machinery builder specializing in presses, flangers and seamers.

1955: Established as Rollason Engineering & Manufacturing, the company built a reputation as the premiere provider of equipment, tools and dies, spare parts, and engineering and overhauling services for can-makers and other manufacturers.
